Brute by charcoalfeather Brute by charcoalfeather
The Brute from Amnesia as he appeared in the Choir. I actually got killed quite a couple of times there because I was not aware he was even in the area.

Took around 3 hours in Corel Painter (oil and blender brushes) and Photoshop CS6 (for adjustments and motion blur). The light source is actually from Daniel's lamp (which is not shown, but around the height of the Brute's armpit).

Wow, that is some messed up creature :noes: It must be really painful for them to be in such a deformed state.
And I see that you wanted to convey that lurking feeling with the overall darkness :I Pretty well thought.

Yep, that creature has had its skull smashed, but if you look closely, he still has one eyeball (surrounded by teeth. Yeah, I don't get it either).

Thank you! Yeah, it was kind of like that in the game. I was so surprised when it came out of nowhere and killed me.

Very nicely done! The Choir was the scariest part of the game to me... the computer I played it on, did something so that I had to start from the Choir Entrance again, and I had just picked up the last piece of Orb in the Brazen Bull torture chamber. I wasn't very happy to have to start all over, being scared like heck because of all the Brutes roaming in this area... I do feel sorry for the Brutes, though... it looks awfully painful with the splitted heads and the spikes in their arms and legs. Ouch... anyway, this is very nice. You did a fine job with this. :)

Yeah, this part was definitely the scariest. I actually didn't expect the Brute and was really frightened when he popped out of nowhere. He runs pretty fast too, so the first time I ran into him, I died.

Thank you for the comments and for the watch!

You're welcome. :)
I was wondering, though, aren't the Brutes also supposed to growl or whatever they're doing before they pop up? Is it a glitch? When I had collected the last piece of Orb, I ran into a Brute around a corner, and he saw me. Luckily, I were able to survive, though - the monsters are pretty stupid, so you can just hide behind a pillar, and the monster will lose track of you really fast. That's what I did, but I was pretty much shaking after that. Man, I didn't even know he was there! He gave no signs or sounds that he was near by. :) I think we both got that nasty surprise. :D

I think all the monsters are supposed to growl before appearing (thus making the game more and more predictable/easy as time went on. Especially since monsters disappear after you hide for a while). I think I didn't hear because I was playing the game in a place where speakers weren't turned on, so that's why I died really quickly.

Heh-heh, yeah. I love this game. I haven't played "Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs" yet, though. Have you played it? If you haven't got a picture already, can you make a picture of the pig monster? :)

Yes, I have. I didn't make any pictures, though. I personally didn't like the design of the monsters much, so I didn't make any pictures of the pigs.

I see. Were you disappointed in the game? I've heard that many people are.

Not really, but I didn't think the game deserved to be 20 dollars on Steam. It was more like Dear Esther than the original game. Have you played Dear Esther?

If you don't mind spoilers, here's my review of it: charcoalfeather.tumblr.com/pos…
