Dear Esther Speedpaint by charcoalfeather Dear Esther Speedpaint by charcoalfeather
3.5 hours in Photoshop CS6. This was my first time trying to paint landscapes in Photoshop. I think I'm pretty satisfied with this.

This is a scene from the wonderful game Dear Esther. It's the third level, in which the player character finds himself inside a cave, waiting for rebirth and metamorphosis.

I used these brushes for some of the patterning: [link]

For some reason I thought this was a forest of sorts. Lolwut.
Nice lighting here ;P Pretty dramatic, I'd say. It emphasizes the loneliness inside this cave :iconwooooplz:
And is that a river in the middle?

Thanks! Yeah, it's a river. Have you heard of this game, Dear Esther? Technically, it's more of "walking simulator" than an actual game, as people have pointed out, as there really isn't a concrete objective in the traditional sense. You walk around a beautiful island and caves and listen to a very abstract monologue with flowery language read to you by a posh sounding guy with a British accent.

Never heard of it.
Seems it's more of a relaxing experience than anything.

Yeah, but I still paid 10 dollars for it. I think it was worth it for some reason.

Yes, it's inside a cave; this is from a game called Dear Esther, which is not really so much a game as a 3D visual novel that lets you explore an island while listening to a post-modern narrative. :p

Thank you for your kind comment!
